Key Aspects
- Introduce crops harvestable during monga and throughout the year and assist the BHH to cultivate them;
- Provide inputs and technical support to households to start cultivation;
- Provide economic management training to ensure that the project participants can become economically self-sufficient.
- Provide protection from nutrition loss through regular de-worming and the promotion of appropriate food processing techniques;
- Provide direct nutrition supplementation for quick recovery from chronic malnutrition;
- Provide flip-flops to all the participants over two years old to prevent hookworm;
- Enhance nutritional intake through the production of diversified, high nutrient value vegetables.
Outputs
Improved knowledge on nutrition, health and hygiene with the ability to recognise signs of illness and malnutrition providing appropriate remedies;
Micro-nutrition supplements will contribute towards improved nutrition levels for children under five and pregnant and lactating mothers;
Access to nutrient rich food for beneficiaries will improve long-term nutritional status;
Fiduciary risks mitigated through improved management of resources from harvest surplus generating continuous employment opportunities and improved nutritional status through food-intake.
