This was the 7th meeting of the Extreme Poverty Research Group and the theme was focused on gender and nutrition.

The session started with a discussion on the terms of reference of the EPRG facilitated by Colin Risner, CEO of shiree. This was followed by Sutapa Paul speaking on behalf of shiree on their experiences visiting the BRAC Gender Quality Action Learning programme. There was a presentation and breakout session on “Mainstreaming Gender” that was facilitated by Kira Galbraith and Sally Faulkner.

Hossain Masud, Nutrition Coordinator at shire, presented on the “Impact of Deworming and Micronutrient Supplementation on Maternal and Child Nutritional status: End-line preliminary findings from a Randomised Control Trial in North-West Bangladesh with NDP”.

Vanessa Rubin (Save the Children) and Nusha Choudhury (World Food Programme) discussed their recent study on the “Cost of Diet” in Bangladesh.

Partner NGOs and Research Officers/Assistants updated and discussed on research progress, strengthening research work, sharing modalities, issues and concerns.

Kira Galbraith led a discussion on strengthening the link between research and advocacy.

Over 50 participants attended the 7th EPRG meeting.
