What is the Innovation Fund? 

The Innovation Fund is designed to finance projects that promote creative, innovative and untested approaches to lift people out of extreme poverty. The innovation fund is a competitive process with only the best ideas, approaches and technologies being selected for funding. To be considered, projects need to be committed to lifting the extreme poor out of poverty during the lifetime of the shiree project. Innovation Fund Round 4

The theme for Innovation Fund Round 4 is achieving sustainable impact. This means ensuring the positive impacts for the lives of the extreme poor achieved in the duration of a project are irreversibly protected and can be built upon by beneficiaries after the end of project support.

Proposals should therefore include explicit measures that are intended to protect the initial gains by households participating in a project. These mechanisms for the sustainable movement out of extreme poverty of target beneficiaries should form the core of the proposaed innovations. The viability of the sustainability strategy articulated in the project intervention logic will receive a high weighting in project assessment and selection. All NGOs who submitted a project proposal – both successful and unsuccessful – will receive feedback from the IAP on their project proposal soon.
