The Economic Empowerment of the Poorest (EEP/Shiree) programme aims to help one million people take enduring steps out of extreme poverty. It is a partnership between three governments. The Government of Bangladesh's (GoB) Rural Development and Cooperatives Division (RDCD) of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD) works with UK aid's Department for International Development (DFID) and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
EEP/Shiree is a 'challenge' fund managed by a consortium of partners led by Ecorys UK Ltd. and PMTC Bangladesh Ltd. working with the Centre for Development Studies (CDS) at Bath University, the British Council and Unnayan Shamannay. EEP/Shiree is one of a portfolio of DFID supported GoB projects designed to reduce extreme poverty and vulnerability in Bangladesh.
