Key Aspects

  • Purpose of the project is to empower 775 adivasi women to reduce food insecurity during monga.
  • Targeting 175 female BHHs who are the victims of mortgaging a maximum of 33 decimals (1 Bigha) of cultivable land due to the effects of monga with little ability to release the land from the mohajan and providing funds to redeem mortgage land, with training on agricultural cultivation for these BHHs;
  • Targeting 600 female BHHs who form the bottom 10% of income bracket (include vulnerable women including abandoned, destitute, divorced etc with no access to land and able to engage in livestock rearing) and ensure supply of targeted number of hogs to the BHHs, with training on hog-rearing (including animal healthcare, construction of shelters and supply of various inputs);
  • Attempting to influence local hog retailers in supporting the adivasi farmers to enhance their market products;
  • Working with adivasi community – including information events (including with stakeholders like market actors), peer to peer information events, and exchanges with other communities already engaged in similar activities and the organisations that run this type of programme;
  • Consultation with local leaders will be undertaken to verify the appropriateness of the information and the relevance to project objectives;
  • Supporting BHHs to form Village Development Committee (VDC) and Bhumi (land) Committee, with leadership training for all beneficiaries;

  • Transfer hogs and hog rearing techniques to other BHHs and secure market access for all BHHs
  • Enhance economic and social empowerment of adivasi women in Panchbibi upazilla
