Key Aspects
- Targets extreme poor living with disabilities recognising the inextricable link whereby poverty is both a cause and consequence of a disability
- Takes a rights based approach in acknowledging the difficulties that those living with disabilities encounter in securing their entitlements
- Adopts ‘community based rehabilitation’ (CBR) approach involving the sustainable practice of assistive devices, home and workplace modification and raising community awareness
- CBR complimented by skills training and facilitated IGA selection and development.
- Additional component develops and disseminates key advocacy messages seeking to sensitise local governance institutes and other relevant stakeholders to the challenges faced by the extreme poor living with disabilities
Outputs
- Output 1: Income related capacity building support provided to targeted households with persons with disabilities
- Output 2: Targeted persons with disabilities provided with capacity building support for functional autonomy
- Output 3: Targeted persons with disabilities in extreme poverty facilitated to access basic health and social services
