Who will benefit?

Who will benefit?

The programme will benefit the extremel poorest 10% of the population of Bangladesh: people that other initiatives are striving to reach. They comprise the:

extreme vulnerable poor :

who are economically active but very marginalised (e.g., female headed households with or without an active adult or young adult); and

extreme dependent poor who are economically inactive and rely on charity or government safety nets (e.g. the disabled or elderly without family support).

children of both the above categories in an attempt to halt inter-generational transfer of extreme poverty.

The programme will also reduce the vulnerability of moderatly poor households who are at risk of descending into extreme poverty (see Fig). It will encourage innovation to improve targeting of government and other safety nets and services to the extremely vulnerable and dependent poor and their children.
